The
Capitoline Museums
There's so much here that I can do little more than point out some of the
more memorable exhibits, including a tremendous range of statues, the fasti,
upon which the names of the consuls were written and displayed on the inside
of the Arch of Actium. There is one fragment which has inscribed upon it the
name of Romulus, Rome's first king and its legendary founder. On this page can
be seen the supposed head of Junius Brutus, The man who led the Romans to overthrow
the monarchy and establish the Republic, lots of emperors, The Statue of the
Dying Gaul, a bust of Cicero, the 5th century Capitoline wolf (the twins underneath
were added in the 16th century), and many statues that I can't even remember
who they represent.
