The Temple of Portunus

The Temple of Portunus is often misnamed the Temple of Fortuna, or the Temple of Fortuna Virilis. It is instead linked to Portunus, the god who protected the ancient port of Rome the Portus Tiberinus. The temple was first built during the Age of the Kings, but has been rebuilt many times since then. Its present appearance dates from the late 2nd Century BC.
