The Temple of Vesta

|
The
Temple of Vesta
is one of the most enduring images of the Roman forum. It is however,
a modern reconstruction from the 1930's which uses original material
dating from the 3rd Century AD. The architecture of the temple, though
decked out with classical motifs, dates from the primitive huts used
by the earliest inhabitants of Rome. This is because, although the temple
was destroyed many times by fire, each reconstruction mirrored the shape
of the previous building.
