Surely the single most impressive temple in the Forum must be the Temple of Saturn. The first temple on the site was built around the start of the fifth Century BC and the podium and revetment date from 42 BC when Lucius Munatius restored the temple. The 8 columns that are still standing together with the architrave date from the restoration of the temple after the fire of AD 283. The temple of Saturn was also one of Rome's most important structures as it housed the State Treasury (Aerarium).
