Like many of the surviving monuments in the Forum, the Temple of Antoninus and Faustina owes its survival to the fact it was converted into a church. The temple was built by Antoninus Pius to the memory of his wife Faustina, though after Pius' death in AD 161 the senate dedicated the temple to them both. tempantfaustside
