Navigating the Forum
There are 3 parts to this page:
| 1 Navigation | 2 Sources | 3 Copyright |
1 Navigation
Navigating your way round the forum is easy. The buttons in the menu below will take you directly to the page you want to visit. If for any reason you can't see them, in the main forum page there is a table which has html links to the various pages.
This menu shows the different pages you can click on. You have two ways of navigating round the forum. Forwards and backwards by using the links, or by a continuous tour. You can start the tour wherever you like, but I've kept it the way I went round. (with slight alterations).
When touring the Forum, where extra information is provided, a link appears to that information. There are 2 kinds of link, internal and external. An internal link is a page I have provided and if you want to return to the page you were on simply click the back button on your browser. In quite a few cases I have linked to sites that have stated the facts as well as, or better than, I can. In these cases the link should open up in a new window. To return to the tour, just close the window.
At the bottom of each page is a menu bar.

You can use it to to either go forwards or backwards on the tour, or to go back to my homepage or the main Forum page. At the bottom of each menu are links to my guestbook and postcard pages. One of these days I will finish a clickable map of the Forum, until then it's a case of keeping track of where you've been.
2 Sources
I used a selection of books for sources for most of the information on this part of the site. The main three were:
1 The Electra guidebook to the Roman Forum (I would have provided a link to an online shop here, but it's hard to get hold of. If you know of a place that sells it online I would be really grateful if you could you e-mail me and let me know.
2 The Roman Forum by Michael Grant is available at amazon or abebooks
3 The Ruins and Excavations of Ancient Rome by Rodolfo Lanciani
These books were used for specific information regarding the Archaeology in the Forum and a basic guide to the monuments. For more specific aspects of the history I used the Penguin Classics series available at Amazon or Abebooks.
3 Copyright.
I have been very careful when compiling this tour of the Forum to ensure that I did not copy the information word for word, and that any facts have been presented in my own words as much as possible. All the photographs used in the tour were taken by me in April 2003 or February/July 2004. Although they are published on the Internet they are NOT public property and copyright rests with me, even if not explicitly stated on the photo itself. If you would like to use a picture or pictures for non-profit, educational purposes please email me at sionmc@hotmail.com.
