The Doliola

The Doliola is an area which had ancient origins according to the scholar Varro. It was where the king Numa Pompillius had sacred objects buried and it was used by the Vestal Virgins to make sacrifices at the time of the Gallic invasions. The Doliola was restored many times, the final restoration being during the time of the Emperor Constantine.
